Whether
you are rookie, a veteran, or have never blown a
whistle, THIS CAMP IS FOR YOU!
Officials who attended last year gained a
tremendous amount of knowledge both on and off the
court.
Through
top flight instruction both in the classroom and on the
court, this camp will give you the tools to become a
better official. You won’t find another camp in the
country that has a better training staff. This year’s
main instructors are Ed T. Rush, a former NBA Director of Officials; a former NBA official;
and currently involved with officials training for the
PAC-10 and the NBA Development League (D-League) and
Al Battista, a
NBA Evaluator of
Officials; the Director of Training and Development for
SSOA; and a men’s D1 collegiate basketball official
for over 25 years.
In addition, several officials currently
working in NCAA
Division I, II and III will be on hand as camp
clinicians.
It
has become apparent that the use of video has
revolutionized the officiating industry. Video has
become the backbone of teaching, and all aspects of
officiating can be taught through its use. We will bring
this technology to the classroom. Our classroom training
will give you the most in depth instruction that is
available. Ask
any veteran official, and they will tell you that there
is no better way to get better, than to watch and break
down video. When you leave this camp, you will
know how to do both.
The
instruction on the court will be no less impressive.
Every game you work will be videotaped. Your games will
also be observed by one of our camp clinicians, who will
provide both written and verbal feedback. We will also
be providing a video breakdown room to review your
games. Afterward, you will have your very own copy to
keep before you leave.
This year’s camp will be broken
into both a HS/Recreation side, and a Collegiate side,
which will allow each official to benefit from their
particular experience level.
